Super Bowl Champs Steelers beat Dolphins 28-17 & Boise St. Blast Beavers 42-14

PITTSBURGH -- Don't blame Dolphins coach Nick Saban for seeing red after Thursday night's 28-17 season-opening loss to Pittsburgh at Heinz Field. The Dolphins began to unravel after Miller took advantage of what Saban admitted was a busted coverage. Officials signaled a touchdown after Miller crossed the goal line even though a replay showed he stepped out of bounds inside the Dolphins' 5-yard line.Saban threw his red replay challenge flag on the field but the officials didn't see it before Jeff Reed kicked the extra point.
The Dolphins then did themselves in after quarterback Daunte Culpepper threw two interceptions, the second of which was returned 42 yards for a touchdown by linebacker Joey Porter with 2:59 remaining."We just had a couple of breakdowns in the fourth quarter that hurt us," said Culpepper, who completed 18 of 37 passing for 262 yards in his first start since being acquired in an offseason trade with Minnesota..The Dolphins were making as many big plays as the Steelers through the first 3 1/2 quarters. Wide receiver Marty Booker made a 52-yard reception after safety Tyrone Carter (Ely High) slipped. The Dolphins parlayed that into Ronnie Brown's second touchdown -- a 5-yard score on a pitchout -- to take a 17-14 lead.

Quarterback Charlie Batch, who started in place of the injured Ben Roethlisberger (appendicitis), completed 15 of 25 passes for 209 yards while Willie Parker (29 carries for 115 yards) carried Pittsburgh's rushing game.A 47-yard punt return by wide receiver Wes Welker to the Pittsburgh 15 put the Dolphins in position to tie the score on a 2-yard Brown touchdown run. After the Steelers answered with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Batch to Hines Ward, Welker continued to make a major impact with receptions of 31 and 20 yards on the Dolphins' subsequent possession. The Dolphins settled for a 26-yard Olindo Mare field goal that cut Pittsburgh's lead to 14-10 at halftime.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Here comes Boise State again, this time on the legs of sophomore running back Ian Johnson.
Showing speed in the open field, the power to break tackles and patience in waiting for holes, Johnson rushed for a career-high 240 yards and five touchdowns in the Broncos' 42-14 rout of Oregon State on Thursday night.
Down 14-0, the Broncos (2-0) scored 42 unanswered points. Johnson tied a school record with the five TDs and had the third-best ground game in school history.
Oregon State (1-1) started strong, using a fake punt on fourth-and-1 at its own 26 and Bernard's running to take a 7-0 lead. Bernard carried seven consecutive times for 46 yards after the fake, setting up Matt Moore's 3-yard TD pass to Joe Newton.
The Beavers then went ahead 14-0 when Sammie Stroughter broke four tackles, cut across the field and returned a line-drive punt 64 yards for a score. Stroughter had a 51-yard punt return TD last week against Eastern Washington.
Other than the first drive, Bernard was held in check, rushing for 89 yards on 24 carries. Moore was 12-for-17 for 115 yards and was replaced in the final quarter by freshman Sean Canfield.
Oregon State lost its fifth straight non-conference road game.
