SPORTS Update.

From time to time I will update you on the world of sports, as it is concerned with my favorite teams.

OSU Beavers:
  • They are in the middle of Baseball season and they are doing well. Their record is 17-3 so far. The Beavs got as high as # 7 in the nation.
  • The basketball team did not do so well this year. I think it's time for a coaching change. The Orange and Black lost in the first round of the PAC-10 tourney to Cal., 70-51. We finished a horrible, 11-21.
  • The football team made a couple surprise recruits in February.

Cincinnati Reds:

  • The Reds are 8-2-1 so far in Spring training games.
  • On a sad note, former coach, Verne Ruhl died of cancer.

Miami Dolphins:

  • Cam Cameron was named new head coach. He was the offensive coordinator at San Diego.
  • They have made a lot of defensive changes so far. Defense was our strong point.
  • Former Oregon QB, Joey Harrington was cut.
  • I say, if QB Dante Culpepper is healthy and with RB's Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, we will be OK. We still will need to add a top notch WR.

Portland Trail Blazers:

  • They have more wins then they had all last year.
  • The have gotten rid of all the players that gave them the old name, Jail Blazers.
  • They have a good young nucleus of players.
  • My advice to them and coach McMillian. Push the ball and play up style tempo.
  • Maybe we can be fortunate and get the # 1 pick in the draft lottery. Greg Oden of Ohio State would be a good pick.

Sheldon High School:

  • The girls basketball team lost in the third round of the 6A playoffs by 8 points.
  • The boys team lost in the semi's by 3 points. And they held All American Kevin love to 9 points. They won third place by beating Jesuit, by 20 points.
  • Both of Tom's ( my twin ) step kids will be running long distance events in track this spring.
