Hey there! Sarah W. here!
Kato and Kimberly asked me quite a while ago to tell you all a little bit about my life. I currently live in in the wonderful town of Spokane, Washington and have lived here for four years. This is the longest I have lived in one house and I love it. I was born in Portland, Oregon and have since then moved many times back in forth from Arizona to Washington. I love the northwest and do not plan to leave it any time soon. My father Gary is a worship pastor, and my mother Teri is a part time teacher’s aid but is a stay at home mom for the rest of the day. I also have two sisters, Emily and Jessica. Life is very good for our family right now, and I couldn’t ask for more.
I truly love and have a heart for ministry. I am very active in all our church musicals and love to sing, dance, and act. I have been dancing since I was two and love ballet, tap, and lyrical dance. I am also currently taking vocal lessons with my sister, and we are truly enjoying that. I am now a freshman in high school, and as I begin school in the fall, I plan to either join drama club or get involved in the school plays. Math is definitely not my favorite, but I always try my best and usually come out with an “ok” grade.
As a PK (pastors kid) my life has always been centered around Church. If we’re not staying after church for a rehearsal then were listening to CD’s to pick out the musical for next year. Thankfully our whole family loves to get wrapped up in our plays, and we enjoy planning them together. I have attended many churches in my life, and I really feel at home in all of them. I am so blessed to live in a Christian family and to be surrounded by people with such a passion for the Lord.
I cannot remember the first time I asked Jesus to be the center of my life. As a kid (you know, 7-10) I attended several Vacation Bible Schools and probably went down to the alter at every single one of them. I remember thinking that Jesus might not remember the last time, so I would just ask him again. I now know that Jesus will never forget my commitment to him. I am constantly trying to get closer with God and create a deeper relationship with Him.
What’s next for me? Well first I must make my way through my freshman year. I know it won’t be without a scratch, but with God’s help, maybe no broken bones. After high school (if I get a LOT of scholarships) I want to go to Northwest Nazarene University and get some kind of musical education degree. From there I want to use my love for Jesus and music to spread God’s word.
Thank you so much Kato and Kimberly for being such a wonderful influence in my life! I love you both!
Kato writes: We have just fallen in love with Sarah's family. We met them at Entiat Camp in Washington. They are big Seattle Mariners fans. We are encouraged at how these three young ladies are growing up for the Lord. Great job, Gary and Teri. We miss you all and will see you when it's our turn at Entiat again, or you move to AZ, or come and visit us. Sarah, thanks for your monthly support. Last term, Sarah's sister, Emily, supported me. More teens like you guys should help support missionaries. We love you too.
