Flood Irrigation ! What's that ?, you may say.
Here in the Peoria, that is how we water things. Yes, we can water with a hose and sprinkler. But the way we do it in this area is to flood an area.
The water is sent to us by the city. It comes down water canals. We open up gates or pipe holes to let the water to the area we need watered. I know this is a new concept to most of you. Because I have not seen this in any of my travels.
We got 8 hours of water today. I spent time with Steve, relearning how to do this. I used to do irrigation when I worked maintanence in the summer times, when I was here before. Although it is not hard work, it is very tiring. Water came at 1045 am and was done by 645 pm. So we are runnning around in a golf cart, opeing and closing gates to get our whole campus watered.
Steve and I had a good time fellowshipping, in the process.
Here's a picture for you.
