Harvest Party

On Friday, October 26th, we at SIMC ( Southwest Indian Ministry Center ) had a Harvest Party. We invited friends, alumni and those from the churches we all are working with.

We started off the evening in the cafeteria. We had a tine of meet and greet. We had face painting for the children. Caylah and I did that. We also had a jar filled with candy corn. You had to guess how many were in the jar. A former alumni, Melissa S. ('93) won that. And we had pin the nose on the pumpkin.

Dinner was served at 6 pm. We had chili and vegetable soups, along with hot dogs. Our Field Director, Sandy welcomed everyone, and Clair prayed for the meal.

After dinner was over, we divided the kids into three groups. Each group then did a specific activity. The three activities were, Carnival games, Relay games and a hayride. Each of those activities lasted about 20 minutes each. I was in charge of the relay games. We played three relay games. #1: Roll the grapefruit with a chopstick. #2: Walk with a clothespin between your knee and drop it into a bucket.
#3: Pick up a spaghetti noodle with chopsticks and put it into a 2 liter soda bottle.

After the games were over we went back to the cafeteria for snacks, ( cupcakes, doughnuts and apple cider or hot chocolate. )

The evening was finished off with a cake walk. We gave away over 20 cakes. Everyone who wanted, had a chance to win a cake. One family from our church, won three cakes.
