
Honored Teacher and Trusted Friend
Richard Byron Boldon, a retired Gilmer County teacher, died March 6, 2006 at home at 945 PM in Ellijay, Georgia.
He was widely know as a multi-talented man of great principle and character. He was respected in the community, especially by his friends at the Amoco, for his willingness to help with projects large and small. He was a dedicated family man who would do anything to improve the lives of his wife, children and grandchildren.
Since retirement he enjoyed operating a backhoe on his property or on small construction jobs. Most of all he loved “moving dirt” with his grandkids.
Before that he taught Social Studies for 19 years at Gilmer County High School, where he was honored as teacher of the year in 1990-91. In addition he was named Law Related Educational Consortium teacher of the year for the state of Georgia in 1992-93. Whenever doing errands about town he would proudly state that many of the people he would meet or do business with were his former students. He also taught part-time at several local colleges and universities.
Before teaching he managed several manufacturing plants in Georgia and Ohio. He started in industry as an electrician and then advanced to maintenance foreman and plant manager. He was a dedicated worker with gifted problem solving capabilities.
He graduated from Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, was a Marine Corps sergeant, and graduated from Akron University in Akron, Ohio. He loved to learn, discuss ideas and formulate solutions.
In addition he was an avid lover of nature and an honored Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed camping, hiking, bird watching, gardening, and the outdoors in general.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie M Boldon, and two previous wives, Mary Duncan and Phyllis Boldon; his children, Carol Buzbee, Richard Boldon, and Cheryl Sexton; his grandchildren Bethany Sexton, Brendan Sexton, Brad Sexton, Samantha Buzbee, Josh Buzbee, Bryan Boldon, Allyson Boldon, and Corey Boldon; as well as his siblings Kathy Bennett, Lisa Parker, Lori Larson, Dave Boldon, Doug Boldon, Timothy "Kato" Boldon and Thomas J. Boldon. He is preceded in death by his father Bruce Boldon, his mother Ruth Boldon, and his sister Judy Montgomery.

Kato, sorry to here about your brother. We have been praying for you guys at church. And about your health... well, i could tell you what dad does, but he doesn't do what he is supose to. So, Listen to your Doctor.
