An Invitation To Be BLESSED

This devotional from David Jeremiah, was sent to us by Rev. John Walton. He is a pastor and close friend, who married us. I also worked with him and his wife in Arizona at Southwest Indian School.

Ask Away

"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us." Ephesians 3:20

Those involved in fund-raising for Christian organizations walk a tightrope. On the one hand, without faith and confidence, asking people to part with money can be intimidating. On the other hand, with faith and confidence, asking people to part with money can be an invitation for them to experience a rich blessing.

Most people would rather do anything than ask for money—first for themselves, then for others. Why is that true? It's because of our lack of faith. If we believe the purpose for which we need money is God ordained, then we must believe God has prepared certain people to meet that need. Asking then becomes a simple process of discovering in whose hearts God has put the desire and ability to give.

When the Israelites left Egypt, they asked the Egyptians for resources for their trip and discovered God had put it in the hearts of the Egyptians to give generously. But they had to ask! God is able to do far beyond what you might ask or think—but you have to ask!

Not to ask others to give to God is possibly to deprive them of the blessing that would otherwise be theirs.

The Gospel is free, but it costs money to provide the pails in which to carry the water of salvation. Louis Evans

I know that raising support is not always the easiest thing to do. I do understand that we are not asking for the money ourselves, but to provide for the opportunity to Go, and fulfill the Great Commission. I guess my faith is weaker than I would want to admit. Please God, help my weak little faith. Your Word says, exceedingly abundantly. Help our faith to match that.
